QUESTION 1 :: ANSWER 1
Tell me about yourself and your background.
(Number one question asked by employers).
I was born and raised in Los Angeles, I have two sisters and one brother. I had a normal upbringing - lots of family interaction. I went to grammar school and high school in Los Angeles, but went to college in Arizona. I have always been interested in sports and I especially like baseball. I got married and had two children, and they are now growing up and I am ready for a more challenging position. I have always been good at math and always wanted to learn more about computers.
While this answer is very informative about you and your life, it doesn't really contribute to your resume or what you can do for this company, and in particular, this job. It also gives out a lot of information that is not necessary for the employer to know at this stage - in fact gives information that is illegal for the interviewer to ask in an interview. It would be more effective if you talked more about your ability in math and computers, which would be of more interest to the employer who is looking for someone to do the job.
